Bayern Munich have re-signed Dutch midfielder Arjen Robben until the end of the 2014/15 season, the Bundesliga club announced on Thursday.
The Netherlands international s previous deal had been due to expire at the end of next season and the winger has been linked with a number of top European clubs in recent months.
While there was talk earlier this week that the negotiations over a new contract had stalled, Robben has now committed himself to the Bavarian giants for a further two years.
I ve always said that I am happy in Munich with FC Bayern, Robben told the club s official website. For this reason, I liked the idea of extending my contract early.
Bayern is like a family for me. Two of my three children were born in Munich and my family and I feel at home here.
Also, in a sporting sense, this extension is the right decision for me. We have a great team and I am sure that we will enjoy further success together in the coming years.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was both thrilled and relieved that the much-coveted Robben had decided to commit his future to the club.
We are very happy to have extended Arjen Robben s contract until 2015, the former West Germany international stated.
Arjen is a very important for Bayern and he guarantees a successful future for the club.
Robben, who scored a crucial penalty in Bayern s Champions League semi-final win over Real Madrid, joined Bayern from Real Madrid in 2009.
